The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission  (USMBHC) and the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) U.S.-Mexico Border Office joined the ten border states in a community vaccine drive reaching millions of people with over 60 events held simultaneously during the week of April 23rd to 30th, 2011 throughout the U.S.-Mexico border. Activities range from public and recognition events, workshops, conferences to health fairs to increase awareness of immunizing children 24 months and younger to protect them from vaccine-preventable diseases and as a call to parents, caregivers, community leaders, and healthcare providers to participate in accomplishing this goal and to bring additional focus during National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW)/Vaccination Week of the Americas (VWA) to the United States-Mexico border region.
