El Salvador ratifies Framework Convention on Tobacco Control

El Salvador has become the 30th country in the Americas to ratify the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), the world’s first international public health treaty. In force since 2005, the FCTC calls on signatory countries to adopt a series of policies and measures to reduce tobacco consumption and protect people from exposure to secondhand smoke.
