The PAHO/WHO Emergency Operations Center Situation Report will issue situation reports as the situation requires.
This new publication “Tuberculosis in the Americas: Regional Report 2012. Epidemiology, Control and Financing” is intended to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the current burden of tuberculosis (TB) and the situation of TB control in the Americas. It is based on TB surveillance and control data for the year 2011 reported to WHO in 2012.
Tuberculosis patients in the Dominican Republic need better health and
social security coverage to cope with the direct and indirect costs of
the disease, which tend to increase during illness while patients’
incomes tend to decline. These are the results of a new study published
in the latest issue of the Pan American Journal of Public Health.
En una entrevista con Radio ONU, la asesora regional de la OPS para el control de esa dolencia, Mirtha del Granado, recordó que la tuberculosis causa unas 30.000 muertes anuales en América Latina y el Caribe.
