Summary of the current situation
As of 10 July 2009, a total of 76,761 confirmed cases of the pandemic H1N1 2009, including 505 deaths, have been notified in 31 countries of the Americas.
The following overseas territories have confirmed cases of pandemic H1N1 2009: Guam, U.S. Territory (1); Puerto Rico, U.S. Territory (18); Virgin Islands, U.S. Territory (15); Bermuda, UK Overseas Territory (1); Cayman Islands, UK Overseas Territory (14); British Virgin Islands, UK Overseas Territory (2); Martinique, French Overseas Community (3); Guadeloupe, French Overseas Community (2); Saint-Martin, French Overseas Community (1); Netherlands Antilles, Curaçao: (9)a; Netherlands Antilles, Aruba (13); Netherlands Antilles, St. Eustacius (1); and Netherlands Antilles, St. Maarten (8).
WHO is not recommending any travel restrictions related to the pandemic H1N1 2009.
aThree confirmed cases were registered on a cruise ship.
In the Americas Region, there were additional 4,370 confirmed cases and 75 deaths compared to previous day.
Ecuador notified it’s first deaths caused by influenza A (H1N1)pdm.
