The Research Promotion and Development unit's Research Interest Group (RIG) is an informal and collegial discussion space fostering the exchange of information about research needs and interests. It is a space for discussing challenges, best practices, and novel ideas in research. Aimed towards inspiring innovation and collaboration in PAHO's work, the group seeks to tap into the network of diverse knowledge and experiences, both individual and collective, represented by PAHO staff.

We have selected the winners of PAHO’s short-term subsidy program "Strengthening research capacity in the area of health policy and systems”. The program aims to strengthen research capacity in health policy and systems in Latin American and the Caribbean, particularly in the areas of financing, governance and human resources. Researchers from Colombia and Peru have been selected as winners of the 2013 PAHO-Ibero-American Cochrane Network Award under the theme "Prevention of chronic noncommunicable diseases through healthy lifestyles."
