Dengue

Dengue remains a public health problem in the Americas despite the efforts of the Member States to contain and mitigate the impact of epidemics. It is a systemic and dynamic infectious disease. The infection may be asymptomatic or show a broad clinical spectrum of severe and nonsevere cases. After incubation, the disease begins abruptly and goes through three phases: febrile, critical, and recovery.

Dengue needs to be addressed as a single disease with different clinical presentations ranging from benign conditions to severe clinical outcomes that cause death.
