This program contributes to PAHO's goal of attaining equitable health and development for people in the Americas by working with Member States to strengthen their health systems and promoting the use of evidence-based programs for public health and practice. Decision-making processes at all levels of the health system must be integrated with scientific evidence and health information in order to achieve evidence-based health care and evidence-informed policy making.
Diverse PAHO/WHO policies, strategies and reports highlight the need for an appropriate use of evidence in decision making.
