Following the recommendations of expert and country consultation of  January 2009 to form a task force for the reduction of dietary salt consumption, PAHO convened a group of scientific and technical experts to start the process of strengthening capacity in the Region to implement population-wide salt reduction policies. The main objective of the Expert Group (EG) is to explore the different aspects of dietary salt reduction to prevent cardiovascular disease to the extent of its practicality. Since then, the EG has published several fact sheets on health and dietary salt for health professionals, consumers and patients, and on the Political Statement. Below, you will find the most up-to-date fact sheets produced by the EG.
