The aim of this meeting was to assemble a technical advisory group to review and adapt a preliminary draft of "Preparedness and Response for Chikungunya Virus Introduction in the Americas". The technical advisory group contained experts from the Americas in various fields, including epidemiologists, clinicians, entomologists, laboratory personnel, and communication specialists.  After discussing the various chapters of the document, the subject matter experts presented changes, additions, and rewrites that they considered appropriate to make the guidelines factual and relevant to all countries in the region. The guidelines are meant to be useful tool that can be adapted and applied by each member country to establish the most appropriate strategies for prevention and control of Chikungunya virus in our region.
