International Women’s Day: Non-Communicable Diseases and GenderToday, in celebrating International Women’s Day, PAHO highlights the unique relationship between Non-Communicable Diseases and Gender. Success in NCD prevention and control depends heavily on attention to gender roles. Women are not only suffering from NCDs, but often face the double burden of also being the primary (and often unpaid) caregivers in society.
