Dr. Chessa Lutter, PAHO´s regional advisor for Food and Nutrition, participated in a panel titled "The Global Problem of Childhood Obesity: Working Across Borders to Improve Our Health" at the "Building a Healthier Future Summit" conference on child obesity. Dr. Lutter´s presentation was on Efforts of the Pan American Health Organization to Reduce Child Obesity in Latin American and the Caribbean. The panel was chaired by Dr. Neils Daulaire, Under Secretary for Global Affaires at the US Department of Health and Human Services. Other speakers included The Honorable Dr. Richard Visser, Minister of Health and Sport, Aruba; Dr. Kim Elmslie, Director-General, Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control, Public Health Agency of Canada; and Dr. Christina Holub, Research Associate, Institute for Behavioral and Community Health, San Diego State University. The Summit was closed by the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama.
