International Course: Introduction to Population-based Cancer Registry & its Application to Cancer Epidemiology (Guayaquil, April 2010)

Improving Cancer Information in LACIntroduction to Population-based Cancer Registry & its application to Cancer Epidemiology, hosted by PAHO and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), is the second international course offered through the five-year collaboration between PAHO-IARC on Improving Cancer Information in Latin America and the Caribbean.

(Guayaquil, Ecuador, 12–16 April 2010)

Course Objectives: To introduce basic international concepts of the registry of population-based cancer data and establish a specialized course in Latin America to support cancer or NCD programs and the cancer registries of the Region in the production, processing and analysis of data on cancer, in collaboration with IARC and PAHO.

Improving Cancer Information in Latin America and the Caribbean (Brasilia, October 2009)

Improving Cancer Information in LACRegional Meeting of Cancer Registries and Cancer Program Managers, hosted by PAHO and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the Ministry of Health of Brazil, National Cancer Institute (Instituto Nacional de Câncer / INCA), followed by the Train the Trainers Course on Cancer Registration and Data Quality Control in Population-Based Cancer Registries.

Purpose: To review progress, identify challenges and opportunities for improving information on cancer in the Region and to plan future collaborative activities.
