Se inició el XIII Curso Internacional de Dengue 2013 en La Habana y culminará el 23 de agostoAyer 12 de agosto se dió inicio al XIII Curso Internacional de Dengue que organiza el Instituto de Medicina Tropical "Pedro Kourí" (IPK) en La Habana, y se extenderá hasta el 23 de agosto. El curso cuenta con el auspicio del Ministerio de Salud Pública de Cuba, la Sociedad Cubana de Microbiología y Parasitología, la Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), entre otros.

Puerto Rico Presents Pilot Project for the Prevention and Control of Dengue


On the occasion of the official visit to Puerto Rico by Dr. Jon K. Andrus, Deputy Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), the Department of Health held a special presentation of the Dengue Pilot Project, funded with federal funds allocated by the CDC to the Department of Health of Puerto Rico.

Autoridades de Salud alertan sobre brote severo de dengue en Nicaragua

Aedes Aegypti mosquitoAnte la emergencia por dengue que sufre el país, el Representante de la OPS/OMS en Nicaragua, Dr. Jorge Luis Prosperi, hizo un llamado a todos los sectores del país a sumarse a las acciones que realiza el Gobierno, para controlar el vector del dengue que ha ocasionado 8 fallecidos y ha afectado a más de 1562 personas, en lo que va del año, la mayoría de ellos niños menores de 10 años.

The number of dengue cases in the Americas increased five-fold between 2003 and 2013, according to data presented this week at a high-level regional meeting on dengue hosted by the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO).
