National coordinators of blood and expert in blood safety convened by the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO)

Washington, D.C., 29 August 2014 (PAHO/WHO).  Experts and national coordinators of blood in health sector, convened by the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), Global Healing, and the Ibero-American Collaborative Group of Transfusion Medicine (GCIAMT), will participate in the conference on “Blood safety in Latin America” in Lima Sept. 6-7.

National Consultation on PAHO Regional Strategy for Universal Health Coverage in Guayana.

 

100UHCbGeorgetown, Guyana. On 4 July 2014, the Ministry of Health of Guyana held its national consultation on the Strategy for Universal Health Coverage (UHC).  This consultation was held with the support of the PAHO/WHO Country Office in Guyana.   As a first step, Dr. William Adu-Krow,  PAHO/WHO Representative, introduced the road map, which included the objectives of the consultation and the suggested methodology for hosting the event. The Ministry of Health appointed a focal point to liaise with the PAHO/WHO Country Office in coming up with a tentative participants list, an agenda and discussion guide that were appropriate to the context of Guyana.   In order to facilitate the discussions during the consultation, the draft strategy document and the discussion guide were circulated among the participants ahead of the meeting.

Experts gathered to participate in the Workshop “Health Technology Assessment and Priority Setting for Universal Health Coverage”

In order to foster the debate on the need for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and priority setting as essential tools, as part of the progressive realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC), a group of experts in the field met at PAHO headquarters on Friday June 13th, 2014, to participate in the workshop Health Technology Assessment and Priority Setting for Universal Health Coverage.
