This year the "World Blood Donor Day" will be held on  june 14th, 2013. The host country at the global level will be France; for the Region of the Americas will be Jamaica. The theme this year is "Give the gift of life: donate blood". This year the campaign aims to:

  • Thank blood donors for their life-saving donations;
  • Promote voluntary unpaid blood donation; and
  • Convince ministries of health to commit to achieve self-sufficiency in safe blood and blood products based on 100% voluntary unpaid blood donation.

We invite the countries of the region to join this great celebration that helps to save the lives of people through universal access to safe blood.

We are counting on the mobilization of all of you, because "Every blood donation is a gift of life".
