8th Annual Vaccination Week in the Americas Targets 42 Million

Forty-four countries and territories of the Western Hemisphere will reach out to an estimated 42 million children and adults with vaccines during the Pan American Health Organization's 8th Annual Vaccination Week in the Americas (VWA) on April 24 to May 1. Tens of thousands of health workers and volunteers in North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean are pledged to support the effort.

New Efforts Needed to Reduce Job-Related Deaths and Illness

In Latin America and the Caribbean, a worker is injured on the job every 36 minutes, and as many as 80 million workers suffer injuries or illness due to exposure to occupational risks every year, experts said today at a panel discussion on World Day for Safety and Health at Work, held at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Washington, D.C.

Nominations are Open for the Sixth Latin American Prize for Health Journalism

Red-Salud [logo]The Sixth Latin American Health Journalism Awards of Red-Salud ("Health Network") is now receiving nominations. Journalists may compete in two categories: "Urbanism and Health" and "Congenital Syphilis."
