[ 8 November, 2010 ] Tomas passed northwestern Haiti as a category 1 hurricane producing heaving rains across the country. The most heavily hit departments were the South and Grand'Anse. Most important needs in these areas are food, potable water, and hygiene kits.

[ 3 November 2010 ] The cholera outbreak continues to spread to previously unaffected areas in rural communities. As of November 3, according to the MSPP, there were 6,742 hospitalized cases and 442 deaths. Five departments (Artibonite, Centre, Nord, Nord-Ouest, Ouest) registered cases.

[22 October 2010] 1,526 cases and 138 deaths have been reported by the MSPP (Ministère de la santé publique et de la population) since 19 October. Reported cases are mainly coming from communities along the Artibonite river basin.

[ 5 November 2010 ] According to the latest public advisory by US NOAA, Tomas passed northwestern Haiti as a category one hurricane (maximum sustained winds near to 140 km/hr). It is anticipated to strengthen during the next 24 hours followed by weakening on Saturday night and Sunday.

[ 11 November, 2010 ] Cholera continues to spread throughout Haiti. This trend is expected to continue in the forthcoming weeks. Outbreaks in remote areas are of special concern because there are fewer resources there to treat cases and implement prevention measures. Health Cluster partners are tracking these outbreaks to help guide deployments of human and material resources.

[23 October 2010] As of today, the MSPP (Ministère de la santé publique et de la population) has reported 2,564 cases and 194 deaths at the national level. MSPP's national reference laboratory today confirmed cases in Ouest Department, including Port-au-Prince.

[24 October 2010] As of today at 6:00pm, 253 fatalities have been reported and 3015 cases have been confirmed. During the two day stretch between October 21 and October 22 the largest number of hospitalizations were reported so far during the epidemic.

[25 October 2010] As of today, the MSPP (Ministère de la santé publique et de la population), with support from partners like PAHO and the CDC, has reported 259 fatalities and 3,342 confirmed cases. Currently there are 12 cholera treatment centers being built to support isolation and treatment of cases.

[26 October 2010] Haiti's MSPP (Ministère de la santé publique et de la population) updated the number of hospitalized cases and deaths, which have increased to 3,769 and 284, respectively. The majority of cases (96%) come from the Artibonite Department, while 4% come from the Central Department.

[27 October 2010] As of today, data provided by the MSPP show that hospitalizations due to cholera totaled 4,722. The departments with confirmed cases are: Artibonte (76.5%), Central (22.9%), Nord-Est, and Nord. The total number of deaths due to cholera is 303.

[28 October 2010] " As of today, Haiti's Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP - Ministère de la santé publique et de la population) has reported 4,649 cases and 305 deaths in four departments. Artibonite and Central are the most affected areas.

[29 October 2010] As of today, Haiti's Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) has reported 4,714 cases and 330 deaths at national lArtibonite is the department with the highest cumulative incidence rate, followed by Central, and Ouest.

[1 November 2010] MSPP has not released new reports on cases. The latest available data is for Saturday, October 30: 4,764 cases and 337 deaths, reported in four different departments.

[November 11, 2010] - Cholera continues to spread as response scales up - The cholera outbreak continues to spread throughout Haiti, impacting five departments and tens of thousands of  lives. On November 11, the Ministry of Public Health (MSPP) released the latest case count: 796 deaths and 12,303 hospitalized cases (as of November 10). These numbers reflect data sent by the departments to the Directorate of Epidemiology and now include cases reported by NGOs and the Cuban medical mission.
