O objetivo é reduzir ainda mais a carga de hanseníase no âmbito global e local. A estratégia está assentada em três pilares: (1) Fortalecer o controle, a coordenação e a parceria do governo (2) Combater a hanseníase e suas complicações (3) Combater a discriminação e promover a inclusão.

The strategy is built around three major pillars: (i) strengthen government ownership and partnerships; (ii) stop leprosy and its complications; and (iii) stop discrimination and promote inclusion. Its goal is to further reduce the global and local leprosy burden, thereby aiming for zero children with leprosy-affected disabilities, a reduction of new patients diagnosed with leprosy-related deformities to less than one per million population and a repeal of all laws that allow discrimination of leprosy patients.

La Stratégie mondiale vise notamment à réduire davantage la charge mondiale de morbidité due à la lèpre aux plans mondial et local. Elle s’articule autour des trois piliers uivants: (1) Renforcer l’appropriation par les autorités, la coordination et le partenariat. (2) Mettre fin à la lèpre et à ses complications (3) Mettre fin à la discrimination et promouvoir l’inclusion.
