ASM-PAHO Infectious Diseases Epidemiology and Surveillance Professorship and Fellowship Programs

Funded by the Pan American Health Organization and ASM, these Fellowships and Professorships offer opportunities for scientific exchange between the US and Latin America and the Caribbean. The programs are open to ASM members and non-members alike.
Fellowship Program provides funding to young scientists from Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, and Peru to visit a host scientist in the US. The applicants must be in the process of obtaining, or have obtained within the past 5 years, their Masters, PhD, or other equivalent academic degree and have at least five years of laboratory experience in the area of antimicrobial resistance. One $4,000 Fellowship is offered per program year. The award is not intended to provide travel to obtain a degree at the host institution.
Professorship Program provides funding support to an ASM member from the US who is scientifically recognized in his/her area to teach a hands-on, highly interactive short course in the area of antimicrobial resistance at an institution of higher learning in Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, or Peru. One $4,000 Professorship is offered per program year.
Application Submission:
Applications must be made jointly between the applicant and the host.
