PRIORITY SERVICES

The Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials (ReBEC) presents the new fast tracks for clinical research and observational studies on INDIGENOUS PEOPLE AND TRADITIONAL COMMUNITIES and on NEGLECTED TROPICAL DISEASES (NTDs). Fast-track can reduce the normal approval period for clinical trials to less than 48 hours, if the documentation, information and any mandatory changes requested are provided by the registrant.

The already existing fast-tracks and the attendance to other studies will not be interrupted. Priority care is granted with a view to accelerating clinical research in epidemiological emergency situations and/or studies with the potential to reduce socioeconomic inequalities, keeping the perspective aligned with the forefront of ethics and transparency, diplomacy in health, scientific collaboration and diversity and specificities of recruitment and health care.

FAST TRACKS IN OPERATION

I - Native Peoples and Traditional Communities - clinical research and observational studies dedicated or preferably addressed to traditional communities (quilombolas, caiçaras, faxinalenses, among others) and indigenous peoples, inside and outside the territory demarcated by law and observing the peculiarities provided for by regulation, case by case.

II - Neglected Tropical Diseases – Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Leishmaniasis, Schistosomiasis, Scabies, Chagas Disease, Intestinal Parasites, Viral Hepatitis, Trachoma, Onchocerciasis, Human Rabies transmitted by dogs.

III - Emergencies of National and International Interest - Monkeypox, Covid-19.

IV - Arboviruses – Zika, dengue, chikungunya, malaria, yellow fever.

1. Register or log in and normally fill out the forms in Portuguese and English. For English, in case of difficulty, use the Google Translate tool (or another free translation tool).
2. Attach the mandatory ethics committee documentation and submit the form.
3. Register the service number on your Whatsapp. Send a message with your name and login. IT IS NOT NECESSARY NOR RECOMMENDED TO SEND YOUR PASSWORD.
4. A reviewer will respond to you. Choose the service modality: chat, audio recordings or voice call by appointment.
5. Your form will be proofread in both languages. Follow the remaining guidelines to finalize the approval.

ABOUT REBEC:

The Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials (ReBEC) is a free access virtual platform for recording experimental and non-experimental studies carried out on human beings and conducted in Brazilian territory, by Brazilian and foreign researchers. ReBEC is a joint project of the Ministry of Health (DECIT/MS), the Pan American Health Organization (OPAS) and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ). ReBEC's Executive Committee is composed of the aforementioned institutions and the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA).

Brazil is part of the restricted group of countries that have published the most studies on covid-19 since the beginning of the new coronavirus pandemic. As of October 17, there have been 168,546 scientific publications related to the disease worldwide. Of these, 4,029 are signed by researchers working in the country. The number puts Brazilian production in the 11th position in the world ranking. It is ahead of that produced by countries like Holland, Switzerland and Japan. The information is contained in a survey carried out by the USP Academic Information Management Agency, at the request of the Dean of Research. It uses the Dimensions platform, an international database with daily updates. According to USP's Dean of Research, Sylvio Canuto, the numbers confirm the trend of good performance in Brazilian scientific production. "Brazilian science has developed a lot. We are at a very good stage of development. In the last five years, Brazil has been appearing as the 13th country that has published the most scientific articles and research reviews", said Canuto. "This year, over a period of eight months, Brazilian researchers were able to improve their performance in the specific case of covid-19."

The so-called fast track may reduce the normal approval period, from up to a few weeks, to less than 48 hours. Scientists around the world will have quick access to modeling studies already underway, avoiding rework and favoring cooperation. The objective is to shorten the time between the beginning of the research, the testing and the arrival of medicines, vaccines and other innovations to society. Fast track users will receive online support through four dedicated phone lines, using messages in free apps like Telegram or Whatsapp, or even through the chat provided by the platform. They will also be able to be answered via voice call via wi-fi, with a scheduled time per message, using the same applications. In addition to the 24-hour operating system with automated e-mail messages every day, human service will be expanded, starting earlier, at 8 am, and going until 8 pm. “Our curatorship and technology team accepted the challenge and will work in shifts to meet the demand, which today is spread around the world”, guaranteed Luiza Silva, coordinator of ReBEC and specialist in risk and crisis communication. All studies that evaluate the clinical, pharmacological or side effects of drugs in humans are called clinical trials. In order to conduct these studies in Brazil, participating institutions must resort to their own Ethics Committees or partner institutions, which analyze research according to the National Ethics and Research Council (Conep) and the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa). To meet national and regional information needs and provide transparency to studies, the Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials (ReBEC) - an online platform for experimental and observational studies - disseminates various research on a specific disease or drug that is underway in Brazil, through data that does not always find space in scientific journals. Scientists from national institutions have announced the creation of a mouthwash formula capable of inactivating 96% of the proliferation of the new coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2) in the upper airways. The formula is based on Phtalox technology, a compound initially created to treat bad breath and improve gum health, revealed the magazine Galileu. The study was carried out by four public institutions - USP School of Dentistry (FOB) in Bauru (SP), USP Biological Sciences Institute, State University of Londrina (PR) and Federal Institute of Paraná, in partnership with the Research Center and Innovation at DentalClean.
