Emergency Operations Center Update on Influenza A(H1N1) June 11

June 11, 2009 - The World Health Organization raised its global pandemic alert level to Phase 6 today. This means that sustained community transmission of a new influenza virus has now been confirmed in more than one WHO region, and that a global pandemic is now officially declared.

Emergency Operations Center Update on Influenza A(H1N1) May 22

May 22, 2009 - Thirty countries have officially reported cases of influenza A(H1N1). The World Health Organization maintains pandemic alert of Phase 5. There is no evidence of sustained community level human-to-human transmission outside of the Americas. PAHO/WHO recommends that countries continue to review their national influenza pandemic preparedness plans and address any gaps identified.
