Interview with David Novillo Ortiz, representative of PAHO / WHO, during the first "Seminar on Telehealth: Region of the Americas" held 27-29 June 2012 in Mexico.

Telemedicine represents a tool to center health services on people, supporting the optimization of the health system response to the population. It also has an impact on processes of healthcare modifying the traditional ways to deliver services that do not exist in remote areas, and increasing coverage and continuity.

In this context, to share best practices in technology integration projects from various countries of the Region of the Americas, the international community of Telemedicine was invited to participate in this event.
