PAHO calls the ountries of the Amricas to break a new World Guinness Record.
Our goal this year is to have over ONE MILLION people washing their hands at the same time, in multiple locations.
Washing hands with soap and water continues to be one of the most cost-effective practices available in public health which could save nearly half of deaths from diarrhea and almost one quarter deaths from respiratory infections worldwide.
The Region of the Americas holds the current record with 740,870 “for the most people simultaneously washing their hands in multiple locations.”
Thanks to the massive mobilization and collaboration of schools from Peru, Mexico and Argentina, the record was set on October 14, 2011 in celebration of Global Handwashing Day.
Let's Break the Record!
Washing your hands with soap and water can prevent illness that kills millions of boys and girls every year.
We can have fun and learn celebrating the Global Hand washing Day by holding activities in schools in every country.
Let’s work together and break a new Guinness World Record of the most students washing their hands at the same time on Tuesday, October 15, 2013.
