|Meeting on Dengue Integrated Management Strategy Plan of Action|
The Pan American Health Organization in collaboration with the Ministry of Health hosted an action plan development workshop on the Integrated Management Strategy (IMS) for the Prevention and Control of Dengue in
IMS-Dengue aims to promote the functional integration of six key components for dengue control at the national and regional levels: social communication (with emphasis on the application of the planning methodology Communication for Behavioral Impact (COMBI)), Integrated Vector Management, epidemiology, laboratory diagnosis, clinical case management and environment.
This strategy is an intervention targeted to improve program management and integration not only by the health sector, but through a multidisciplinary and inter-programmatic approach in which national health and environment authorities, communities, and the private sector with technical assistance from the PAHO/WHO work together to address dengue.
A total of 35 health professionals : (1)Epidemiology/surveillance, (2)Vector Control, (3)Laboratory , (4)Clinical Care providers and from (5)Communication and health education units attended the five-day workshop.
Experts from the International Technical Group on Dengue (GT- Dengue) facilitated the workshop in order to strengthen an integrated component of Epidemiology, Entomology, Health Care, Laboratory and Social Communication for the prevention and control of dengue in
