Repairs on Jamaica’s Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital, damaged in August 2007 by Hurricane Dean, are close to completion. The project was financed by the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid department (ECHO) and PAHO/WHO with the objective of reducing health risks in the aftermath of Hurricane Dean. Rehabilitation of the hospital is the second component of a two-part project and used more than 50% of the funds. The first part of the project is related to the control of vector-borne diseases. It is expected that hospital repairs will be finalized on 14 March.
