The Information Systems and Platforms for Health (IS) team of EIH works to set models, norms and standards for strengthening governance mechanisms for information systems for health, in line with the Organization's policies and strategies for integrated and interoperable systems.
This team is responsible for creating and maintaining systems and platforms that provide strategic information and intelligence to develop and support the implementation of evidence-based policies and sound decisions on public health matters, in collaboration with all entities and member states of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau (PASB) as well as its external partners.
Information Systems for Health is a mechanism for managing interoperable systems with open data that comes from different sources and that is ethically used, through effective ICT tools, to generate strategic information for the benefit of public health.
eHealth is the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for health. The eHealth
program promotes the use of information and communication technologies in health
development.
The FIC is a group of integrated classification products to be used alone or jointly, with the
purpose of improving health through the provision of information for decision-making at all levels.
PAHO's main objective in the area of information systems is to improve and strengthen health
information for decision-making and program planning.
