The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is currently implementing the Health Sector Support Programme Belize project which is funded by the European Union. It intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project.

The overall objective of the project is to achieve a better quality of life, for all Belizeans, living now and in the future. It includes the following components:

  1. To develop efficient, effective, disaster-resilient and environmentally friendly health facilities; and
  2. To improve the structure, organization and management of health services.

The project aims to support the Government of Belize to assess and prioritize vulnerability reduction investments of their health facilities. A total of six (6) health facilities will be retrofitted to help reduce the downtime and potential damage to the facility in the event of a disaster as well as reduce operational expenditures with water and energy management improvements and ensure energy efficiency to support continuity of healthcare delivery in the event of a major disaster. 

The facilities to be retrofitted are:  (i) Punta Gorda Community Hospital, Toledo District (ii) Southern Regional Hospital, Stann Creek District (iii) Western Regional Hospital, City of Belmopan, Cayo District (iv) Northern Regional Hospital, Orange Walk District (v) Corozal Community Hospital, Corozal District, and (vi) Central Medical Laboratory, Belize City, Belize District.

The United Nations Global Market Place (UNGM) is the procurement portal of the United Nations System and is the electronic vendor registration system used by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), regional office of the World Health Organization (WHO) for all tendering exercises.
