Thinking Healthy: A manual for psychosocial management of perinatal depression
thinkinghealthy coverWHO has developed a generic field-test version of this manual for training community health workers on how to support mothers with depression, through evidence based cognitive behavioral techniques recommended by the mhGAP programme.

The Thinking Healthy Program integrates techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy and education about child development to reduce maternal symptoms of depression, while facilitating the development of a positive attachment between the mother and child. Not only does this approach empower the mother to modify maladaptive thoughts and behaviours for the sake of her own health, it also directly addresses caregiving behaviours.

This is the first manual of a new series of documents on low-intensity psychological interventions WHO is currently producing.
