Panama, 13 September, 2019 (PAHO) - Representatives from 16 countries of the Americas attended the Regional workshop on Health Accounts (SHA-2011 to participate in the validation process of the estimates of health expenditures and identify key financing indicators in the advancement of health systems towards universal health goals. The workshop was held from 9-13 September, in Panama City, Panama.
During the event, PAHO health financing specialists presented updates on the latest developments related to the SHA-2011methodology and the use of Health Account information. The country teams worked on the validation of health expenditure data from 2017 that will be reported by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the global database of health expenditure data (GHED) and published on December 1, 2019.
Also, countries´ representatives exchanged experiences and opportunities for future collaborations between the Ministries of Health's teams and other key entities, in the production and analysis of health expenditure data.
Members of the technical teams, responsible for health economics teams and planning offices directly related to public health policy decisions attended the workshop. PAHO/WHO health financing specialists and experts in the field of Health Accounts also participated with presentations.
