This regional initiative highlights country health data produced by member states on their health systems. All member states have adopted core indicators data to improve their health quality. Core Indicators help countries to monitor key information and understand how their health systems perform; identify where they can improve and at the same time, aid their decision-making through data.

The Core Indicators 2019 Data Tables reflect the data obtained from the 2019 round of data collection, reported from countries, and from UN Inter-Agency estimates. In addition to the printed document, data for 270+ indicators are published online.

To celebrate this milestone, this commemorative issue presents an analysis of key health trends over the past 25 years and the remarkable strides made in improving the population’s health within the Region of the Americas, while at the same time observing that there is still much more work ahead to ensure equitable health across the Region.
