The impact of the recent hurricanes on the islands of the Caribbean was the focus of a meeting between the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) health ministries caucus on Sunday, 24 September. The meeting, which was also attended by the Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Carissa F. Etienne, discussed the impact that these natural phenomena have on the health of the population and the health sector, as well as measures to confront them.
