A project to strengthen the system of monitoring and monitoring compliance with the national and territorial goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), described in the 2030 Agenda in Colombia was one of the winners of the call for proposals for the implementation of projects IS4H promoted by the Pan American Health Organization. The proposal to create a monitoring system for municipal inequities in compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) related to Objective 3, Health and Wellbeing, was developed by the University of Antioquia, Colombia.

Sustainable Developmento Goals

The project aims to have reliable, complete and timely indicators available for the national government, municipal mayors, local and departmental health secretaries, and other potential users.

The project aims to have reliable, complete and timely indicators available to evaluate the progress made in attaining the goals of objective 3 of the SDGs at the municipal level for the years 2015-2017, in addition to designing a "Profile of Equity in Health and Departmental well-being" for each of the 33 departments of Colombia, reporting in a simple manner on the progress made in achieving the goals of Goal 3 of the SDGs, the state of intra-departmental inequities, their trend during 2015-2017, and its comparison with reference territories.

The project is aimed at the national government, particularly the High Level Inter-Institutional Commission for the enlistment and effective implementation of the Post-2015 Development Agenda and its SDGs, which is the formal space for follow-up and decision-making around the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, through public policies, plans, actions and programs.

Other potential users are the municipal mayors, local and departmental health secretaries, citizens and organizations that follow up on the recommendations presented to the National Government for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals - ODS, health professionals, teachers, researchers and community in general.

The originality of this project is based on three aspects: 1) the implementation of monitoring and monitoring at the municipal level, 2) the incorporation of the analysis of achievements in terms of territorial equity, and 3) training activities that strengthen the analysis capabilities of decision makers thus facilitating the use of evidence in the formulation of pro-equity policies.
