International Clean Air Day for Blue Skies
The Air We Share
99% of the people on this planet are now breathing polluted air.
Every year, 7 million people die prematurely due to air pollution, 90 per cent of whom are in low- and middle-income countries. The need for clean air remains as important as ever.
In Latin America, 320,000 people die every year due to ambient and indoor air pollution.
On 7 September 2022, the third International Day of Clean Air for blue skies will be observed under the theme of The Air we share.
We all breathe the same air, and we have one atmosphere that needs our protection. International Clean Air Day for Blue Skies is a call to everyone, from governments and businesses to civil society and individuals, to take action to reduce air pollution and transform our lifestyles.
