On 4 April 2024, the Guyana Department of Public Information (DPI) published information regarding wildfires affecting the Timehri community. There are 28 people from the Santa Aratack village that were evacuated to a government run shelter. Several other areas are being monitored closely as the fires continue to spread countrywide; additional shelters will be established, if needed. The report is available from: DPI
