PAHO Global Affairs Canada project continues to provide technical cooperation to the Ministry of Health for the improvement of Women and Girls.

PAHO Donation

GEORGETOWN, GUYANA, 19 February 2024: The PAHO/WHO GUY CO through the Improved Health of Women and Adolescent Girls in Situations of Vulnerability Project supported by Canada and the Latin American Center for Perinatology, Women and Reproductive Health (CLAP/WR) donated several items to the Ministry of Health to improve health outcomes of women, girls, and neonates. This donation seeks to continue to improve the lives of women and girls in the regions. 


The items donated were Portable Ultrasound Machines, Helping Babies Breathe Equipment (complete simulations kits, mannequins etc.), Adult Scales and Gestograms (pregnancy wheels), and equipment for vaccine cold chain.

Dr.  Oneka Scott, Maternal and Child Health Officer, expressed gratitude on behalf of the Ministry of Health to PAHO/WHO, Country Office and by extension the Global Affairs Canada Project, for this generous donation. She indicated that the items donated will improve the services that are currently provided. Dr Janice Woolford, Specialist, Family and Community Health, made the presentation on behalf of PAHO/WHO Guyana Country Office

The PAHO CO will continue to provide technical cooperation to the Ministry of Health for the continuous improvement of the health and wellbeing of all.
