PAHO Donates Tablets to Strengthen Malaria Elimination Efforts in Suriname

Paramaribo, 22 December 2023 (PAHO) - On the 21st of December 2023, the PAHO/WHO Suriname Country Office donated 47 Samsung tablets to the Malaria Program of the Ministry of Health, Suriname.

This donation aims to bolster the implementation of DHIS2-Tools to support surveillance and other information systems in support of malaria elimination. The continued existence of this digital monitoring mechanism, in place during the evaluation for certification as malaria free in early 2025, will be beneficial.

The tablets were handed over to the acting Director of Health, Dr. Rakesh Sukul, by the PAHO/WHO Representative a.i. in Suriname, Dr. Rosmond Adams. Dr. Adams stated that PAHO was pleased to support the Ministry of Health and called on the Ministry of Health to amplify its commitment towards malaria elimination using innovation as a beacon of hope.
