Partnership with PAHO

  • The Enhancement of Occupational Health and Safety in Brazilian Industry (EOHSBI) is a Brazilian-Canadian partnership project, funded by the Technology Transfer Fund (TTF).  The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in collaboration with the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) created this fund. The goal of this project is to achieve greater occupational health and safety protection and equity for Brazilian industrial workers who are employed in selected sectors in six Brazilian states. This project aims to strengthen the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the selected sectors to integrate occupational health and safety into their organizational culture, performance goals and management systems, and to reduce illnesses, injuries and fatalities. This project builds the capacity of participating industries and their occupational health departments to effectively address challenges in the development, implementation, management and evaluation of workplace health and safety services and programs, including issues of gender and diversity.
  • CCOHS has played a pivotal role in making existing information more accessible to the Region as part of its contribution to the implementation of the WHO's Global Strategy on Occupational Health for All.  PAHO, CCOHS and HRDC of Canada are working in concert to distribute information effectively in Latin American and Caribbean countries.  This joint partnership will publish in French, English and Spanish three important documents on occupational health, safety training and information services electronically.  The titles of those documents are the following:

               1.   Health and Safety Training for Managers and Supervisors e-course

               2.   Spanish OSH Answers Service

               3.   RTECSÒ Database in Spanish
