The first World Health Assembly was held at the birth of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948. As the decision-making body of WHO, the Assembly is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States, including those in the Americas. Every year in May, high-level authorities gather at the Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, to review relevant global health issues.
