The HRWeb Americas platform: PAHO and the Council on Health Research for Development (COHRED) jointly developed the HRWeb Americas to facilitate countries to systematically collect data and make systems comparable as a mean to improve research governance. The platform incorporates regional and national information on research governance and policies; research priorities; key institutions and networks; research ethics review; medicines regulations; research financing among others.

Cochrane Collaboration Systematic reviews
In November 2015, Carissa Etienne (Director of the Pan American Health Organization - PAHO) and Mark Wilson (CEO Cochrane) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in the Americas. Cochrane is a global independent network of 37,000 researchers, professionals, patients, carers, and people interested in health from more than 130 countries.
The MoU focuses on the following objectives:
- align the production of Cochrane systematic reviews to PAHO's health priorities;
- strengthen capacity for evidence-based decision making in the region; and
- strengthen knowledge translation activities.
