Photo: Port-au-Prince, Haiti 1994. For this little girl, quenching her thirst is more important than knowing that the water she drinks is safe for her health. This beautiful image is part of a photography exhibition "Water, Health and Hope in Hispaniola", which depicts the daily hardships that Haitians face in their efforts to obtain water and the lack of access to clean water and sanitation.

The photo exhibit was presented by PAHO at the Organization of American States in conjunction with the launch of the Regional Coalition for Water and Sanitation to Eliminate Cholera from the Island of Hispaniola, on June 29, 2012.
