El presente documento, denominado Estrategia de gestión integrada para la prevención y el control de las enfermedades arbovirales (EGI-Arbovirus), fue elaborado durante una consulta técnica con los países en Colombia en 2016, con base a las experiencias acumuladas provenientes de las mejores prácticas en cada uno de los componentes de las EGI-Dengue nacionales y las recomendaciones brindadas por expertos y científicos del Grupo Técnico Internacional de Arbovirosis (GT-Arbovirus).

 IMS-dengue is a management model aimed at strengthening national programs and thereby reducing the morbidity, mortality, and social and economic burden generated by dengue outbreaks and epidemics. In order to meet its objectives, the strategy seeks to modify individual and community behaviors and diminish the risk factors for transmission through coordinated measures inside and outside the health sector.

The Integrated Management Strategy for Dengue Prevention and Control in the Region of the Americas (IMS-Dengue) updates the methodological working model that the countries of the Region have been deploying and strengthening over the last 10 years. Its integrated and multidisciplinary nature has proven very useful in management at the country level, to prevent and organize national responses to outbreaks, epidemics, and inter-epidemic periods.
