This report presents the 2017 leishmaniasis data analyses for the Region, as well as the CL and VL risk stratification proposed by the Regional Program along with experts and the countries.

Epidemiological Report of the Americas; 2014

In the Americas, leishmaniases remain a public health problem due to their magnitude and clinical, biological and epidemiological complexity, mainly affecting the poorest, especially in developing countries, requiring a collective effort and shared commitment between governments, organizations, institutions and society for their control. This report is based on the Leishmaniases Regional Information System - SisLeish/PAHO/WHO and it updates the information on leishmaniases in the Americas with data from 2015.

Nas Américas, as leishmanioses seguem sendo um problema de saúde pública devido a sua magnitude e complexidade clínica, biológica e epidemiológica. Afeta predominantemente os mais pobres, sobretudo em países em desenvolvimento, fato requer um esforço coletivo e um compromisso compartido entre os governos, as organizações, instituições e a sociedade para seu controle... Este Informe foi elaborado a partir do Sistema de Informação Regional de Leishmanioses – SisLeish/OPAS/OMS e atualiza as informações das leishmanioses nas Américas referente ao ano de 2015.

Since 2012, the year of the beginning of the Regional Information System for Leishmaniases in the Americas (SisLeish), countries have been making great effort to include the data within the required time, which is April 30th of the subsequent year. One of the performance indicators of the Plan of Action for Leishmaniases in the Americas 2017-2022...

The leishmaniasis are diseases with elevated incidence rate and wide geographic distribution in the Americas. They remain a challenge for national and regional programs, since they require a technical, operative and political effort to sustain the systematic development of surveillance, prevention and control actions towards these diseases.

As leishmanioses são doenças com elevada incidência e ampla distribuição geográfica nas Américas e continuam sendo um desafio para os programas nacionais e regional, porque requerem um grande esforço técnico, operativo e político para manter o desenvolvimento sistemático de ações de vigilância, prevenção e controle destas doenças.  

Este informe apresenta a análise dos dados de leishmanioses de 2017 da Região, assim como a estratificação de risco para LC e LV proposta pelo Programa Regional em conjunto com especialistas e os países.

Desde o início do Sistema de Informação Regional de Leishmanioses nas Américas (SisLeish), em 2012, os países vêm realizando um grande esforço para incluir os dados no tempo requerido, 30 de abril do ano subsequente.
