PAHO Forward| PAHO Annual Report 2024

PAHO Forward is an Organization-wide approach that aims to modernize and streamline PAHO's operations by enhancing three principles:

1. Efficiency

2. Transparency

3. Accountability

PAHO Forward seeks to better address public health challenges and support the Organization's Member States by leveraging technology, data analytics, and innovative management practices.

A plan to enhance accountability must itself be accountable. Therefore, the goals of PAHO Forward are structured around a detailed, strict, and publicly shared schedule, with clear timetables and objectives to be achieved.

PAHO Forward Plan of Action 1.0 (2023–2024)

PAHO Forward Plan of Action 1.0 was implemented from April 2023 to March 2024. It achieved 80% of its goals.

PAHO Forward Plan of Action 2.0 (2024–2025)

PAHO Forward Plan of Action 2.0 began its implementation in June 2024 and will end in May 2025. It incorporates the contributions of internal and external individuals, groups, and entities.

Key achievements in 2024:

Dataton: An innovative PAHO Forward initiative to enhance data quality, collection, and discovery supporting the digital transformation of the health sector in the Americas

Optimized liquidity for savings of USD 3.1 million in 2024 using money market funds and reduced credit and banking risks through diversification. Competition for foreign exchange transactions with real-time exchange rate offers, generating savings of USD 345 000 in the final quarter of 2024.

Increased efficiency in publication production with cost savings in layout and design, which previously cost between $ 5000 and $ 8000 or more per publication, through the creation of a set of standardized templates in an organization with more than 200 ISBN publications issued annually.

Strengthened core predictable country presence with 39 new positions recruited in record time with the required quality.

Technical cooperation in countries more efficient through improved procurement processes and increased use of dashboards for operations and compliance monitoring.

Accessible and inclusive documents better adapted to digital screen and following international web accessibility guidelines.

Agreement with the United National Volunteers programme signed in October 2024, which will grant access to prequalified professionals who can be hired expeditiously for technical and enabling entities.

Making PAHO internal auditor's reports available to the Member States

Most Country Cooperation Strategies are now updated which not only helps PAHO better support the priorities of Member States but also ensures that the Organization can deliver substantial value through these strategies.
