The Alliance for Rabies Control (ARC), together with the Pan American Health Organization / Veterinary Public Health / PANAFTOSA, is hosting a competition for the best rabies prevention and control event for World Rabies Day (WRD) in Latin America and the Caribbean. A PAHO certificate will be awarded to each winning team, along with a WRD prize of US$ 1,000, to be spent on materials for the following year's World Rabies Day 2011 project.

This educational presentation of 17 PowerPoint slides on rabies and its prevention, with notes, is intended for classroom use or training sessions. It provides facts and figures, information on the rabies virus and its history, how to protect yourself from the disease and get treatment, and how to learn more about the disease. It is meant as a public-information tool for use in classrooms or at local events celebrating World Rabies Day every 28 September, in a context of advocacy and information-education-communication (IEC) and social communication. It may be used in conjunction with a shorter, more general presentation, World Rabies Day: Working Together to Make Rabies History!
