An Advisory Group Consultation on the Design Requirements for Megavoltage X-Ray Machines for Cancer Treatment in Developing Countries was organized by PAHO in Washington, D.C., with the collaboration of WHO Headquarters, the IAEA, and UNIDO. The goal of this Consultation was to propose design alternatives for megavoltage x-ray units that have the potential of lower manufacturing cost, simpler design, and less frequent and costly maintenance than current electron accelerators.
