This contribution by the International Union for Cancer Control (UICC) was presented at the meeting on Improving Information in Cancer Registries, held in Brasilia, Brazil, from 13-14 October 2009, within the framework of the PAHO-IARC collaborative initiative on cancer registries and the quality of the data therein.
