La Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS) desempeña un papel fundamental en la promoción y el fortalecimiento de la telesalud en las Américas. A través de su cooperación técnica, impulsa la implementación de soluciones digitales como la plataforma todo en uno, y ofrece acompañamiento especializado para el fortalecimiento de los sistemas de información para la salud, con un enfoque especial en la atención primaria.
La OPS ha creado una variedad de herramientas y recursos, como guías, documentos técnicos y herramientas de análisis de madurez, para apoyar a los países en la evaluación de su preparación para la telesalud, la capacitación del personal de salud y la implementación de servicios de telemedicina. OPS promueve el desarrollo de sistemas de información en salud interoperables, lo que permite una comunicación más fluida y eficiente entre los diferentes actores del sistema de salud y facilita la prestación de servicios de telesalud.
A través de programas de capacitación y asistencia técnica, contribuye a fortalecer las capacidades de los países para diseñar, implementar y evaluar programas de telesalud, asegurando que sean sostenibles en el tiempo y trabaja para garantizar que los beneficios de la telesalud sean accesibles a todas las poblaciones, incluyendo a aquellos que viven en áreas remotas o que tienen menos recursos.
