An opportunity exists for a Climate Change and Health Consultant at Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) Guyana Country Office. The successful candidate will support the Ministry of Health with the development of a comprehensive Health National Adaptation Plan for Climate Change, including the conduct of a Vulnerability Assessment.
Technical expertise
Knowledge about health systems’ operations;
Knowledge about climate change and its impacts on health;
Experience in data collection and analysis;
Experience in impact assessment and sensitivity analyses;
Experience liaising with Ministries and national authorities;
Strong professional and academic writing skills;
Strong research, problem-solving and organizational skills;
Very good knowledge of written and spoken English.
Education/Experience
An advanced degree in environmental science or public health and minimum of 5 years experience on topics related to climate change and health.
The incumbent should be based in Guyana, working remotely under the direct supervision of the PAHO/WHO Disaster Preparedness and Response Consultant. Duration of consultancy is 6 months with the possibility of extension.
