On 12 January 2023, the Governor of Alabama, issued a state of emergency for 6 counties (Autauga, Chambers, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, and Tallapoosa) due to the severe weather. To date, 6 deaths were reported. More than 14,000 people are without power in the state of Alabama. According to a media report, on 13 January, at least 20 homes were damaged or destroyed in Autauga as a result of the severe storms and tornados.
