On 17 June, the Guatemala National Coordination System for Disaster Reduction (CONRED, per its acronym in Spanish), reported that during the 2021 rainy season, 172 weather related incidents have occurred affecting 339,310 people. There have been 4,624 people who were evacuated, 254 of were placed in temporary shelters, and 2 injuries were reported. There were 6 deaths: 1 in Chimaltenango, 1 in Quetzaltenango, 3 in Sololá, and 1 in Guatemala Department. In terms of damaged infrastructure 386 homes sustained slight damage, 800 moderate damage, and 62 severe damage. In addition, 2 schools and 3 buildings were damaged, 49 incidents related to roads were reported, and 5 bridges were affected including 3 that were destroyed. The severe weather incidents that have occurred in the Guatemalan national territory have been dealt with in compliance to the Specific Protocol for Rains in the Republic of Guatemala 2021 Guidelines provided in the National Response Plan.
